Outstanding graduating students make their mark
Valeria Valdes Cosillion
“I just really love how you can pull multiple things together into something really magical and the unlimited possibilities.”
Valeria Valdes Cosillion graduated this spring with a bachelor’s degree in film and media production from The Sidney Poitier New American Film School and a degree in business management from the W. P. Carey School of Business. She hopes to use both to work in production management for animated features. Learn more about her goals and her time at ASU.
Mira Kim
When Miru Kim made the decision to leave her home country of the Republic of Korea to study ceramics at Arizona State University, she didn’t realize how challenging the language barrier would be. She almost left the program, but ultimately made the decision to stay so she could learn from the School of Art’s award-winning ceramics faculty — Susan Beiner, Kurt Weiser and Sam Chung. Her decision paid off when she graduated in December 2021 with her MFA in ceramics.
Ri Lindergren
“For me it’s been a lot about reclaiming technology and giving agency to the body, and to the dancer and to the human that’s in the space, rather than having the human adapt to the technology.”
Ri Lindegren graduated with her MFA in a unique area — dance and interdisciplinary digital media and performance. Read more about her time at ASU and her work at the intersection of dance and technology.
Hayley Steiner
“I have so many business ideas already thought out.”
Before Hayley Steiner graduated this spring with a master’s degree in digital culture, she had already created one business and was laying the groundwork for another company. Read more about this recent School of Arts, Media and Engineering graduate who embodies ASU’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Leanna (Liang) Wu
Leanna (Liang) Wu is a UI/UX visual designer who grew up in Suzhou, China, and moved to the United States several years ago. She said going back to school to get her master’s degree in visual communication design after a decade of not being in school was hard work, but it was worth it to be able to be a role model for her kids.
